Sam’s Wish Fund

Sam’s Wish Fund was named for Samantha “Sam” Harvell, a Kids Path patient in Burlington.

Her “spunky and bright personality” inspired volunteer Doug Shambley to raise funds for terminally ill children like Sam.

The fund originally was established to grant “wishes.” But over time, as Kids Path client needs have changed, the fund has been expanded to meet financial needs of families with medically fragile children. Most recently, the fund has also supported Kids Path operations. Seventy percent of the Kids Path program comes from charitable support.

While many people have supported the work throughout the years, a core group of volunteers, Allison Nichols, Walter “Bird Dog” Riddle, and Doug Shambley have consistently supported annual fundraising efforts.
