The Power of Knowing
Celebrating Diversity in Hospice & Palliative Care
Tuesday, November 15 | 12 – 1:00 p.m.
Health care disparities exist for multiple reasons, including historical, cultural, and economic. While hospice and palliative care services are designed to meet the individual needs of our diverse community, many remain underserved. One way to reduce barriers to service is to better understand how caregivers can create more welcoming and safe experiences for those seeking care. And since understanding comes from knowing, this presentation will reveal some of the challenges various underserved communities have when seeking care. By addressing these challenges and learning more about hospice and palliative care, all those in need will be better positioned to access expert care and support at the time of a serious illness or end of life.
Learning Objectives
• Learn about the importance of community-based hospice and palliative care educational opportunities to ensure all community members are aware of services.
• Learn how hospice and palliative care meets the specific needs of groups in the community to be sure all have equal access to services and support.
• Learn about barriers those in underserved communities face and how these are being addressed and improved.
