Feldmann Achieves Hospice Medical Director Certified (HMDC) Credential
July 23, 2015 (GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA) — Dr. John Feldmann, a staff physician at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (HPCG), has achieved his Hospice Medical Director Certified (HMDC) credential. This certification is granted by the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board. It identifies physicians who have demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to practice in a hospice setting at the current level of profession.
“The HMDC recognizes the unique skills required for a physician working within a hospice team to provide quality end-of-life care,” said HPCG’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Juan-Carlos Monguilod. “The credential highlights Dr. Feldmann’s dedication and competence not only in hospice and palliative care medicine, but as a physician leader in our rapidly evolving field of end-of-life care.”
Feldmann joined HPCG in 2010. He is certified in the subspecialty of Hematology and as a Medical Oncologist by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) with 43 years of experience practicing cancer medicine. Prior to joining HPCG, he was actively engaged in clinical cancer research, home hospice care and cancer center development. Additionally, Feldmann served as president of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) in 1996.
Three of four HPCG staff physicians have now achieved HMDC or Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) certifications. Both the HMDC and HPM certifications are recommended by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).
